Volunteering in the Children’s Team can be more rewarding than you will ever know. There are so many things that shape our young people know matter how old they are and having a christian effluence in their path can shape the rest of their lives. Some of the areas that fall under the Children’s Ministry that you could volunteer in are:
- Children’s Ministry Host / Check In Desk
- Infant Nursery
- Sunday School Teacher
- Events and Programs
- Upward Coach (Basketball, Football and Cheer)
- Crafts and Study Materials
The Children’s team will engage our children that are from nursery age to 6th grade, so there are many area’s where you can fit in. Contact the church office to find out were you can get plugged in and start what we can promise well be one of most rewarding things you can do.
Volunteering in Youth Ministries is not for the weak… our students are high energy, fast, and will challenge you. Even if you are a bit weak, we will ask them to take it easy on you. It is very easy to drop off your child off and let them go.. but let me encourage you to attend a participate with what is going on in this ministry. There are as many needs in this ministry as there are in most ministries, so don’t just drop your kids off. Ask if there is anything that you can do. The students will have fund raisers throughout the year to support there mission trips and activities. Your participation in these events may be all you can do, for now, but we deliberately curved out time for them when they were infants and toddlers… don’t stop now! Get involved!
Everyone has a Timothy and everyone has a Paul somewhere in their life. Someone that they are teaching and someone that is teaching them. Who is your Timothy? Someone very curious about their faith, asking a lot of questions, hungry for the what the Spirit has next for them. Who is your Paul? Someone wise and matured in their faith, able to answer the tough questions and lead you to a deeper understanding? We all have our Timothy’s and our Paul’s but how are we utilizing these gifts that God commanded us to do. Make disciples, share our faith with the next generation, bring up our children in the ways of the Lord?
Think of your Timothy and your Paul, think about those relationships, we want to encourage you to work at growing those relationships. Not only will it stretch you in your walk, but it will strengthen someone else’s as you share with them how you have learned, what you have learned. Actively sharing your faith with another is also what God has commanded us to do.
If you do not have a mentor or are not someone else’s mentor, let Banner assist you in finding someone, or an opportunity to engage yourself in a activities that can produce them. Some good places to start are to become part of a small group, volunteer work in a church ministry or attend an upcoming event.
Our Adult Sunday School classes beginning at 9:00am and run until 10:00. Sunday School Classes are designed largely to help us connect our faith to life. Think of it as life training. We try to offer classes that aren’t just information, but offer real tools to make us better spouses, parents, employees, teachers, or community leaders. It’s really about developing the skills God has given each of us to do a better job where He’s put us. Some of our recent classes have been about dealing with grief, raising children, deepening our relationships with others, or reasonably discussing hot topics with people who may not agree with us. It’s always lively and always useful. We’d love to have you join us, some of the current classes going on are:
There are also other various small groups that meet during the week, both men’s groups, woman’s studies etc. Here are some of those currently meeting:
- Men’s Morning Bible Study
- Women’s Study Group
- Wednesday Night Prayer Gathering
Each year from September to May we offer our Discipleship Courses, which are aimed at unpacking the Bible like you’ve never understood it before. We offer two different classes (GROW- Old Testament, GROW- New Testament) to give you a comprehensive understanding of how the Bible is laid out, God’s full story from beginning to eternity, and the specifics of what we believe about the core principles of our faith. These classes will help you understand not only what we believe as a congregation, but why as well. One of the greatest perks to taking our discipleship classes is the increased confidence you will have of your knowledge of scripture and what God’s purposes are all about. We strongly encourage every one of our people to take each of the classes and a number of people have taken them twice!
